Hello all,
First, let me say that I am new to Alpha software and would be very appreciative for any assistance I can get to start off in the right direction. Although new, I am not afraid to dig in and learn - assuming someone can get me started.
Via the web, what I would like to be able to do is to be able to compare multiple values (field contents) of a single record in my client database to multiple values in multiple records (a one to many comparison) in the vendor database.
The result that I would like to achieve is to be able to match multiple fields from the client database record to multiple records in the vendor database and determine which of the vendor records has the most matches (by totaling the score of all fields, by % matched, etc.).
From the online tutorials, I have been able to build the form to collect the information from the customer and the vendors, but I could really use some advice from this point.
Since the results would have the contents of all the records from both customers and vendors for comparison and reporting sake (reporting is another battle that I have not worked my way to yet :)), I dont know if a regular query is what I am looking for (but maybe it is??). Would something as simple as a query via a dialog web component do the trick? If so, how would I bring back all of the data from all of the fields being examined including showing the ones that matched and those that didn't?
Any help any of you Alpha Five experts out there can give me would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
