Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Cannot redirect from GRID to another page

    Hi,

    I have been wrecking my brains trying to resolve this issue. I am trying to redirect my page to another based on a selection in a radio button.

    Code:
    function AfterUpdateRecords as v (Args as P, PageVariables as P)
    with PageVariables

    		if Args.DataSubmitted.R1.Enotification="Notify Now" then
    		response.redirect("jva_owner_email.a5w")
    		end if
    		response.redirect("grd_Search_Page.a5w")
    end with
    end function
    The response.redirect("grd_Search_Page.a5w") seems to work fine, but when i select 'Notify Now' radio button, it seems to ignore the response.redirect("jva_owner_email.a5w") and go straight to response.redirect("grd_Search_Page.a5w").

    Can anyone spot where i am going wrong with this?

    The jva_owner_email.a5w page has been published and resides on the server.
    The 'eNotification; radio button is on the grid and selectable via the ARGs option.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Cannot redirect from GRID to another page

    Response.redirect does NOT stop script execution. Your redirect to grd_Search_Page.a5w is not conditionalized, so it always executes without regard for the value of your radio button. Either put that redirect into an ELSE block or add an END statement in the IF block and you should get the behavior you are after.

      Re: Cannot redirect from GRID to another page

      Joe,

      Thank you for your reponse.

      I have two checks in a single script that i am trying to incorporate.

      1. If ENotification="Notify Now" then response.redirect to popup_not.a5w

      then

      2. If Status="02 - Returned" then response.redirect to popup_ret.a5w
      else
      If Status-"03 - closed" the response.redirect to popup_clo.a5w
      ... and so on.

      As i cannot response.redirect to a new browser window, i was thinking about redirecting to a seperate a5w page that opens a new window and then run the script. When i tried this but the args commands were not recognised. So i have reverted back to the original plan to try to get the main script to work in a grid event (AfterUpdateRecords).

      My script is shown below; Do you have any suggestions on how i might get this to work?

      Currently the script works when the various options are selected. However, the only thing that doesnt work is the response redirect shown in RED.

      Code:
      'SEND EMAIL NOTIFICATION IF NEW PROPOSED OWNER SELECTED

      		if Args.DataSubmitted.R1.Enotification="Notify Now" then
      		filter = "issues_id =" +quote(Args.DataSubmitted.R1.ISSUES_ID)
      		order = ""
      		ISSUEIDNO = Args.DataSubmitted.R1.ISSUES_ID

      'Generate Report
      		filename2 = session.session_folder + chr(92) + "Single_Issue.pdf"
      		filename2 = report.saveas("rpt_Single_Issue@[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\set_issues_log.set","pdf",filter,order,filename2,.f.)

      'EMAIL to ACTIONEE
      		e_to = lookup("[PathAlias.ADB_path]\staff","Full_name="+quote(Args.DataSubmitted.R1.PROP_ACTIONEE),"Email_addr")
      		e_cc = ""
      		e_bcc = ""
      		requester_ln = session.__protected__metUserName
      		e_subj  = "Issue ID No: "+ISSUEIDNO+ " is now assigned - Report from " +requester_ln
      		e_body = "This issue has now been assigned to you. Please update issue register when applicable"
      		email_send(e_to,e_subj,e_body,filename2,e_cc,e_bcc,.F.,"","")
      		[COLOR="Red"]response.redirect("jva_owner_email.a5w")[/COLOR]

      else
      end if

      		if Args.DataSubmitted.R1.STATUS="02 - Returned" then
      		filter = "issues_id =" +quote(Args.DataSubmitted.R1.ISSUES_ID)
      		order = ""

      'Generate Report
      		filename = session.session_folder + chr(92) + "Single_Issue.pdf"
      		filename = report.saveas("rpt_Single_Issue@[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\set_issues_log.set","pdf",filter,order,filename,.f.)
      		if file.exists(filename)
      '		response.Redirect(session.session_url + "Single_Issue.pdf?" + time("hms3")) 'GRID ONLY
      '		end if

      'EMAIL
      		e_to = Args.DataSubmitted.R1.INT_EMAIL
      		e_cc = ""
      		e_bcc = ""
      		requester_ln = session.__protected__metUserName
      		e_subj  = "Issues Returned Report from " +requester_ln
      		e_body = "This issue has insufficient information. Please review and resubmit."
      		email_send(e_to,e_subj,e_body,filename,e_cc,e_bcc,.F.,"","")

      		response.redirect("jv_returned_email.a5w")

      end if
      Thanks.

        try putting the key word END on the line following the redirect.

          Re: Cannot redirect from GRID to another page

          In the update record event, try a simple redirect statement and try to pass argument and chek is it working or not, or try to redirect to the same page itself . If that itself is not working then no point of trying anything else..

          --Thanks--
