Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    The BIG X

I am sure this is a setting but I cannot find the answer. This only happens on ONE computer.

If I go to the V7 Demo page and select

Example 1.21 - (New!) Text Lookup - populate multiple grid fields in a single operation

When I activate the page and click on the Magnifying glass I get an ICON (of what appears to be a screen) and a BIG X across the icon. Where do I go to look for an answer?

    Thanks

is the browser on that machine configured to block popups?

the lookup is a popup window and so, the browser must be configured to allow popups.

The Popup was not checked, I was going to attach a jpg, but I am on the computer where the popup does not work and I am unable to attach the file as I get the BIG X when I click on the button to attach.

It is strange because I looked at the settings on a computer where the a5w page works and the popup was checked...is there more than one block option? The problem computer uses XP Home Edition. The other computer (where it works) is XP Pro.

I have compared settings to computers that work vs the one that does not and they all have the same settings, however, the one computer I cannot get to work. I can't access data on Alphabay because of the Big X problem. Any help would be appreciated....

Can you show us a screen shot of "the big red x"? Also if you could give me the time you recieved this X and your IP address at that time, I can look through the server logs to find any logged errors on this end.

I am unable to provide the screenshot. Once I click on the object to open I get a small icon with the appearance of a screen with the X on it. This error message appears for about 2 seconds and then disappears. I have been watching what text appears on the bottom right of the screen to see what is to be opened when I click and the majority of the time it appears to be Java code.

FYI, I FINALLY found the answer to this problem. The computer I was having problems with uses dial up (unfortunately) and my ISP (Cincinnati Bell) offered some Accelerator Software to make the loading of the pages quicker. I turn off this software and everything works fine. As Selwyn mentioned in a previous thread to check for the option to Block Popups, this software happened to have that option and I was unaware of that.
