Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

The common offer that you would receive a credit for whatever you paid for V9 towards V10.

            Re: Upgrades

So they entice you to buy now then put you through hoops when it comes time to make good. I have to admit that I was sitting back, waiting for their email on how to go about getting the free upgrade. It's only when I started reading some of the threads and receiving upgrade offers that I began to get concerned.

Am ..... not impressed but I do appreciate your quick reply and observations. Really, I'm not knocking anyone but I wonder if customer service monitors these threads. I will have to review all correspondence and decide on what to do next. Guess I'm feeling just a little stupid for not having waited. I must have read too much into what they were saying.

Nothing to feel stupid about. The deal was to get a full credit of your purchase towards v10. So if you had waited, you would have to pay the full amount now and not have had the head start with v9.

                What Doug said.

The amount you spend is the same, but you have the head-start on V10.

And you have the option to sell your v9 license should you upgrade and don't need it.
                  There can be only one.

                    Re: Upgrades

I just took advantage of this and didn't have to jump through any hoops. I purchased an upgrade to the unlimited runtime and called A5 and they gave me full credit of the upgrade price toward V10 stuff. Easy.

                      Daniel,

                      1. It seems like you are assuming you will have to jump through hoops you since you did not seem to even contact Alpha yet. Others claim no hoop jumping required, including myself.

                      2. I would not wait for customer service to call you, you will have to call them.

                      3. If you waited (never purchased A5 before) you would not be entitled to the upgrade price + you are getting all your money back that you spent on V9 (presuming you bought it during the time of the trade up offer) , you have the benefit of getting a jump start with Alpha and you can keep/use/selll your copy of V9, nothing to feel stupid about.

Not impressed with what? Alpha or the upgrade offer or something else?

                        Re: Upgrades

Guess I didn't understand the upgrade policy. I purchased V9 during the upgrade blitz (Buy now and get a FREE upgrade to version 10). Been Using a much older version for some time and was holding back using 9 until 10 came out to lessen the re-learning curve.

I apologize to all... I made assumptions based on my experiences with other software vendors. I did not mean to offend anyone on this message board...... I withdraw my commentary and, when I have the time, contact them re the upgrade.....

I did search through the faqs and cannot find any mention of the process I must go through. From what all have said, I assume that I purchase the upgrade and then call them for a refund???? Or does that upgrade price reflect their upgrade offer at the time..... I haven't had the time to check out all the correspondence I had on file.

In any case, thanks for setting me straight!

                          Daniel,

Would be best to call or email them prior to ordering, so you get the discount. There is no "automated" way of getting the credit for the V9 version, as far as I know.

                            Daniel

I bought the v9 offer a month or so ago, and then recently upgraded to v10. I always knew I was going to buy v10, so getting v9 free and also qualifying for v10 'upgrade' pricing was a no-brainer for me.

Suggest you email [email protected]. If possible, quote your original v9 order number (you received this with your v9 serial numbers). Also state the v10 package or product you are interested in and request an upgrade figure that takes into account the credit due to you.

If you are happy with the confirmed upgrade figure, just let them know. They can manually create an order using the payment details they already have on their system for you (if they are still current).

You will receive a standard confirmation email with the new v10 serial number(s).

It's all very easy and painless.
                            Kind Regards
                            Alan

You can blindly trust Alpha Software. It is one of the most integer companies I know. If they promise something, they will stick to it no matter what.

But they can not change their whole selling system everytime based on every special offer they carry, scince they do a lot of special offering....

So indeed, just email customer support and they will take care of it for you. No hoops, no big deal, just an email......
