Table in use for ZAP

I tried closing the table before the ZAP and it still cannot open exclusive. Please see below:

tbl = table.open(tablename)
tbl.close()
tbl = table.open(tablename, FILE_RW_EXCLUSIVE)
tbl.zap(.t.)
tbl.close()

Sorry. I meant tbl.zap(.t.)

It just doen't want to open exclusive for ZAP.

In the interactive window where I gave these commands there was no error. See attachment.


Did you dim the tbl as P?

Did you take a look at the (Control panel, Files,) Database information and have you seen the table you want to zap was open or closed?

Are you a single user?


What error message did you get?

I will use: Dim tbl as P

It was not generated by the action scripting for ZAP.

If you close and reopen the app, and have nothing in the load that would open that table - as a test, go to the control panel, interactive, and try:

t=table.open(yourtablebname)
t.zap(.t.)
t.close()

if you still can't zap it, most likely you will need to use a registry cleaner. In development, as we are in and out of tables many times in a dev session, the files will sometimes show to be open when they aren't, due to $$$ files in various places in the registry. The only way I know to fix it is to use a registry cleaner.

Did you try putting all your operations in a UDF and doing the zap after the UDF?

Yes. That worked. I am not getting this error anymore.
