Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Adding a 30 Day Trial into Software

Hi just had a look around but have not really found anything.

Is there a way of turning an Alpha 5 application into a 30 day trial with maybe an automated way to send registration code via email once payment has been made.

Just wondering if there are any activex controls that can be purchased and added.

    Thank you

    Joe

If you take a look at the code to the trial program I sent you you will see it does just that. If you remember I gave you and access number. To see how it works one of the codes is zaplicense. Run that code by double clicking. Close the db and reopen. You will now have a trial period with a license number request

      RCG.zip

In the attached zip file I have had an attempt to create a license process that is different for any user you want it to be. You will note that when you open it will ask for license or you get 90 days to try. As you go through the DB you should be able to create your own license key and add which will remove the screen at startup

I have also made a quick video which can be viewed at http://www.onestopsolutions.biz/demo6/

          Joe,

I have similar in my racecar program, but the user has to call/phone me for the key. They key has 3 different codes attached to it. one for 15 days, one for 30 days and one that frees it forever. It also checks some of the system and windows stuff to make sure it has not been moved or COPIED to another machine. If it information has changed, it goes back to the registration form. At phone time, client information is gotten so I know where the program is and who is using it. There is a little more of course. All my apps have somthing similar, but this one appears to be the best one for me at this time.

Thanks Dave I have contacted a couple of vendors to see if they are interested in coming up with a solution for Alpha 5.

I just don't understand all it takes is a day to investigate Alpha 5 convert the VB code to suit x basic and bang they make more money.

We shall see how we go.

My racecar program will be on web in a few days for download. You may want to try it and see if you can get past the registration. If not, maybe I can help you and it will come complete with an exe.
