Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

link 2 forms for the same record

Hi, I am trying to link 2 forms, I have many tabs because it's a lot of information for the customer, So I am thinking in split the form in 2 forms and linking then thru a button.
but I dont know if I have to filter en the second form saying than it's the same customer, and at the end where do I have to save the data en the first or the secod form
do you have an example of how to do this or it's better to keep all the tabs in the main form.
Thanks in advance for all your help

You may be trying to do too much in one form. Consider this article.

In addition to Tom's advice you need to understand that you can't "link" forms. Forms are a means of viewing a record in a table.

You can open a second form and display the same record from the table or set upon which the first form is built but you are just inviting trouble. If you begin entering a record in the first form I don't believe you can filter the second form for that record until it is saved. If you begin changes on the first form and try to mke other changes on the second form you should get an error message about the record being locked by another user.
      There can be only one.

Another option is to use a global variable with a value of the key of the primary table.

Set that global variable on one form and then open the other form and find the record with that value.

Move to another record and change the global variable value to the keyvalue of the new record....

Aprado, when you say "tabs" do you mean Fields or actual Alpha TABS. You can simulate many, many Forms by using Alpha Tabbed Objects. Each Tab can have different Data.
            Example:-
            Address Tab - All demographics
Contacts Tab - A list of Contacts
Delivery Details Tab - All delivery information
            Etc.

Is this based on a table or a set? There is a different answer if it is on a set.

How many fields do you have and how many records do you expect to have down the road?

I have 9 full tabs(actually "conditional objects") on one form based on a set and open another form with 5 tabs(actually "conditional objects") on it from there. This is all one record in a set.
