Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    A5 Email - Hiding the A5 Toolbar

    Ok, another one I cannot find where to change the settings.

    When using the built in email how in the heck do you hide or edit the toolbar? The menu is fine but the toolbar just allows too much Alpha 5 information and options.

    So how do you hide or edit this?

    Perhaps you need a different choice to start from..

    From what I see you circled the menu. What does the toolbar (just below the menu) do that the menu doesn't.

    I'm wondering if you have reversed the menu/toolbar concept....

    As far as changing those options...... still considering

        Action Scripting - Read Email. COnverts to inline x-basic as this.
        Code:
        'Default comment text.
        DIM nResult AS N
        DIM profile AS C
        DIM lSilent AS L
        DIM lStatusBar AS L
        DIM lProgress AS L
        DIM lDisplay AS L
        DIM filter AS C
        DIM lUI AS L

        profile = "SCM"
        lSilent = .F.
        lStatusbar = .T.
        lProgress = .T.
        lDisplay = .T.
        lUI = .F.
        filter = ""

        nResult = email_pop_retr_ui(profile, "", lDisplay, lUI, filter, lProgress, lStatusbar, "", lSilent)
        At minimum.

        If A5 does consider this a system toolbar I cannot find where to edit it or disable it when the email reader is open.

        I know Alpha 5 is proud of their stuff but I do not want my end users messing with things they should not.

        Edited... Seems what I should be calling them is Menu's and I have still not found any system menus you can edit that have any effect on this.

          Re: A5 Email - Hiding the A5 Toolbar

          Using A5 Email, how to do display the "Read E-Mail" page that are found in current thread's attachments? Only way I can see how to do it is, open control panel > tools > Email > Read Email. Would like to place a button on form when pressed opens this page.

          Have tried the following with no luck:

          'Read Email
          DIM nResult AS N
          DIM profile AS C
          DIM lSilent AS L
          DIM lStatusBar AS L
          DIM lProgress AS L
          DIM lDisplay AS L
          DIM filter AS C
          DIM lUI AS L

          profile = "JBK"
          lSilent = .F.
          lStatusbar = .T.
          lProgress = .T.
          lDisplay = .T.
          lUI = .F.
          filter = ""

          nResult = email_pop_retr_ui(profile, "", lDisplay, lUI, filter, lProgress, lStatusbar, "", lSilent)

            Figured it out: "email_reader_open()"

            I too also find some of the toolbars and menu items unnecessary in A5 email. I would like to change/modify as needed. Any and all help is appreciated...

              Have you tried;
              Form
              ..Properties
              ....Window
              .......System Menu?

              Make sure you have a way back in if you try this.

                Thanks Ted for your reply. I don't see how when opening A5's Email, that there is a way to get into the Form properties. I have tried to modify the menus and toolbars by reading the information found in the above wiki link (http://wiki.alphasoftware.com/Editing+System+Menus) with no luck. Wish there was a way to modify the menu and toolbar. Alot of unnecessary items found in these two. Thanks

                  I killed every system menu you could edit and it still shows up on the built in email. Pretty much makes it useless for a distributed app in my opinion. As far as I have found there is absolutely no way to edit the email form system menu from the control panel.

                    Bummer.... I couldn't agree with you more. End user doesn't need and won't use 90% of the items found in the menus and toolbars in A5 Email.

                    Maybe a good suggestion to add to the "Wish List" to give use more control of the menu and toolbar.... JON

                        Yes you could use the default mail client on your computer. However a lot of shops in the industry my app is targeted for use Gmail only and have no email client on their computers. I think it is stupid for any company to use a freebie email account but that is what a lot of them do so they can access their email from anywhere.

                          Nope I have failed (maybe).

                          You looked at the Gmail setting didn't you?
                          There do not appear to be any options that I can find at the moment. But a few home brews and who knows?
