Hello
We have a set which consists of a parent (client) table and then a child table which consists of the contacts.
Each contact in the child has a record identifier. For example the first record the identifier is number 1, the second contact number 2, the third 3 etc.
At an order entry screen the customer (parent) is selected and then a field asks you to pick the relevant contact.
So if you choose from the drop down list contact number 3 it will insert 3 in the first field and then the contact name in the next field.
A filtered lookup on the child table.
That is the way it should work.
However, it doesn't because each parent(client) can have a 1, 2 or 3 numbered contacts in the child.
So what happens is that each contact in the child table is identified by an autoincrementing number to distinguish it a an individual record.
The problem this creates is that when you do the lookup and grab the contact, it is not 1, 2, or 3 which is displayed in the firts box, but 45, 101, or whatever the child record auto incrementing number.
Of course to the end user, the screen shows the correct contact but a silly number besides it such as 102, implying that the parent- client - has at least 102 contact records.
Does anyone know of a way around this?
Kind regards
Alex
