Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Galileo MIR Data Import

Does anyone have experience of importing Galileo MIR travel journey data into an Alpha system ?

The MIR spec is 281 pages long and my client requires a quick answer as to how easy this would be - bless them !

    Any help gratefully received.

If the data can be exported from MIR to either an Excel or CSV format, then it will be possible to import that data.
Is it clear in the spec whether this is possible?
If the MIR tables are in an SQl format, you can create an Active or passive link to the SQL Tables.

Apologies to anyone I haven't managed to upset yet.
You are held in a queue and I will get to you soon.

      Hi Ted

Unfortunately the Galileo MIR data would appear to be in a variable length text format - nothing as simple as CSV or Excel.

Data elements are prefixed by an alphanumeric code in order to establish the data "type" of each text line.

Apparently they use a variable length / code format in order to allow for extra data in the future.

I have asked my client to try and get Galileo to send me a sample file to have a look at in order to better establish the data structure.

      I just love a challenge!

      Take care

      Maurice

Then it should be possible to import the data to a Memo Field, capture the alphanumeric code - there must be a structure to this code - and leave the rest in the Memo Field?
May I see the code structure when/if you get a sample?

          Re: Galileo MIR Data Import

It looks like this has gone on hold as my client has to then submit the resulting data to another company who amalgamate it with other agents' data in order to provide an overall report to the end client in Houston.
In order to be able to "talk to" the intermediate company, you apparently have to go through a registration process with them (something my client had not previously mentioned!) and so they are now talking to an "approved" outfit for them to handle it.

I do love wasting time - it could have been an interesting exercise with lots of substr() processing.

You should have just said "Yes" and bought a tin hat!
Never a waste of time - you have learned something.

                Hi,
After chasing the internet for a long time for someone talking about this subject, I realised that there is really a God!! Thank you!
So, could you please help me with a way to convert an AIR file from Amadeus GDS to a Galileo MIR output?? Is there a way?
Why? Well, the system used to backoffice integration does not read AIR format and client does not wish to change system (both platforms are used).
Could you please give me some idea?

                Best Regards!

                Miguel

                  Re: Galileo MIR Data Import

Sorry Miguel but I never got any further with this as my client's client are using Prism in the USA to do their composite reporting with Travicom (UK arm of another American company) extracting the data from my client's Galileo data. Travicom are one of Prism's approved system houses.
From my quick glance at the Galileo data, it is not a simple job to extract the data particularly when they are apparently in the habit of changing structures at a moment's notice - I have no idea what the Amadeus data looks like.

Please let me know if you manage to get any answers!

                    Hi Maurice,

Sorry for bothering you again about this subject, but I had no answers about this subject!
The thing here is extract AIR information to a MIR format to a particular exclusive Galileo backoffice system!

Could it be possible?? I can present you with an AIR file...

                    Thanks for bothering!!

                    Miguel

                      Hi Miguel

Ok - you can try sending me an AIR file (not too big hopefully!).

Do you have an AIR format spec?

It's a simple txt file with flight information!
