Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Describe what you are doing and the steps taken. Active link table or passive link table? What does "produced blank record" mean?

Try the same process with the AlphaSports.mdb in C:\Program Files\a5V11\MDBFiles.
    There can be only one.

      Stan,

Your rule #3: I used to have a singing pig, but a good lawyer and a divorce court fixed it.

Hi Stan thanks for the reply, I have several active linked tables to ms access 2007. It's been perfectly working ok before until I updated alpha five for the latest release. Now, when I open the linked table there are no record but in ms access the records are there.

Unless you need something in the latest release I would send a bug report and reapply the previous update until the new patch is fixed.

                  Re: linked table blank result

Patches are distributed as exe files. You install the old patch just like you did the new patch. If you didn't keep the old patch you can download it here.

                  http://downloads.alphasoftware.com/a...nate/index.htm

You don't need to uninstall anything. Running the old patch will restore everything to the earlier state.

                    hi Stan,

I installed the old patch but it does not work as well now. The active linked tables to ms access are also blank now.

Then it is unlikely the new patch is the problem. It must be something else that has changed. Possibly a Window update as there were several offered yesterday.

Have you tried the suggestion to try creating an active link table to the AlphaSports.mdb? If that works you will know that the active link table creation process works on your machine.

                        Hi Stan,

What format should I choose to be able to connect to other alpha five db? access? mysql? odbc? my other active connection to local mysql and remote mysql tables works fine but not on access.

                          Mdb is an Access "table".

                            Hi Stan,
all tables actively linked to alphasports.mdb works fine. But the active link to my access table still not. I tried creating a new one to my tables still no success. Any Ideas why?

If you can active link to the alphasports.mdb then the active link functionality is working. Since you cannot active link to your own access table there is something different about that table.

Can you save that table in an earler access version format for testing? Are there any access routines to verify the integrity of the table? Can you use access to visually examine the table for bad/corrupt records? Can you export the access table to another format such as excel and try importing the excel file into an Apha table?
