Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    MYSQL to MSSQL

    Hi all

I am in the process of migrating my database from MYSQL to MSSQL and I am having the following issue:

I have created the MSSQL database and have changed my connection string in my application.

I am able to connect to the database.

When I open the active -link table to view the records the table is showing the first record duplicated over and over up until the number of records. I have removed the date fields from the active table and the data then shows as it should, putting the date field back then it once again only shows the first record duplicated.

Can anyone perhaps tell me what could be happening here?

The MSSQL database field type is "Date" on those fields, the orginal MYSQL field was also date.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you

Wouldn't a logical test be to create a new active link table and see what happens?
    There can be only one.

      Re: MYSQL to MSSQL

      Hi Stan

I have created a whole new table in MSSQL with a date field.

I have then created a new active link table to this new table, there are 7 records in this table, 5 of which have the date field null and 2 have the date filled in.

When I view the active link table I see the 5 records without the date and there are 2 blank lines where the 2 records are that have the date filled in.

There are no duplicates showing like the table on my original post.

I am not sure what is going on here or where I may be going wrong.

            Re: MYSQL to MSSQL

            hello

if I may, how are you migrating to mssql from MySQL?

I just created a new table in mssql, filled in data and an active link table to it.
I filled in date field in two and left null in three and when I expanded the active link table it shows correctly.

please take a look at this picture

              Re: MYSQL to MSSQL

I believe that there is a difference between the two SQL date formats, Peter.
You may need to reconfig the table, as G suggested.

                Hi all

Looks like my problem is solved.

I found this on the forum http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...on-Error-HY104

I installed the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Feature Pack which has solved the problem, the tables are now showing as they should.

Thanks to all for their suggestions.
