Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    After update Windows 10

    Hi All,

    After update windows 10 from Windows 7, I have the two problems.
    1) AlphaFivePrinterV4 - not able to print with PDF.
    2)the Backup or Zipfile utility will not completed because Some of files were opened.
    The first one is solved with re-install the A5 printer driver again.

    I can find the " .ddf .ddd .ddm " files in my directory with File Explorer.

    My question is

    Can I rename those files and copy and paste it from old Backup?

      Mark,

      find C:\Program Files (x86)\a5V11\AmyuniV4\InstallAmyuniPrinters and re-install it.

        Re: After update Windows 10

        Upgrading to Win 10 will sometimes break the Amyuni printer.

        Open Settings/Devices/Printers & Scanners then scroll down and click "Devices and Printers" under "Related Settings"

        Find any Amyuni printer or AlphaFivePrinter and delete them.

        Now using the folder explores navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\a5V11\AmyuniV4\. Right click on InstallAmyuniPrinters and select "Run as Administrator".

        Once that has completed start V11 by right clicking and selecting "run as Administrator" now open a workspace in V11, open a report, select the Acrobat icon and then save to PDF. When it tells you the printer has not been and do you want to install it, answer yes. It should now install the AlphaFivePrinter and create the PDF.

        After that you should be able to start A5 as you normally would and the print feature will work.

          For #2 Alpha must shut down all forms and browses before it can create the backup zip file. The xbasix to do this should look something like this.

          Code:
          'Display the 'Backup Workspace' dialog box
          dim cmd_initial as c
          cmd_initial = " backup_database()"
          dim msg as c
          msg = "In order to Backup files, all open Windows must first be closed. OK to close all open Windows?"
          dim cmd_result as c

          'get list of all open windows...........................................
          dim open_windows as c
          open_windows = a5_list_open_windows()
          dim current_window as c
          if is_object(topparent.this)
          	if topparent.class() = "form" .or. topparent.class() = "browse" then
          		current_window = topparent.name()
          		'remove the current window from the list
          		open_windows = word_subtract(open_windows,current_window,crlf())
          	end if
          end if

          'generate the xbasic to close all of the open windows (excepting the current window)....................
