Radio Button help

Hi,

I'm near frustration with radio button usage!!!

I have a radio button object on my form. It has three options to select various indexes to view a list (embedded brouse).

How do I assign a different index to each radio button label? It seems I can only assign an "action" to the group of radio buttons.

I'm new at this, so an action script option would be appreciated.

You don't assign an index to a radio button. You assign an action which sets the index tag you desire.

Index set is a choosable action. You name the tag you want.

Select the radio button, right click for actions, select index set, enter the table to set the index for, enter the index tag name you want.

Sorry, didn't read that through. I would suggest you use three small buttons, not radio, which are labeled with the indexes you want to let the user choose. Then use the index set function as described. Radio buttons are used to make exclusive choices that are later used in other ways.

You could use radio buttons to collect the name of the index the user wants and have a button to "change index" based on the radio button chosen. It sounds like that is more than you want to get into at this point.

Ok, it wasn't as involved as I thought.

Define a variable for your form, maybe called idex. Global, character, initial value "" (blank)

Add a radio button object to your form, based on var->idex. Use as many choices as you like,
but each one should be "labeled" as a valid index tag choice.
Value should be the index expression of the corresponding index tag.

Add an inline xbasic action script for the radio button group, onchange event,

if var->idex =""
end
end if

tbl=table.current()

tbl.index_primary_put(var->idex)

parent.resynch()
