Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Pricing made simple

I have been an A5 user ever since it was introduced. I have upgraded as new versions were released. I currently have ver 4.5. What will it cost me to purchase ver 5. (Don't even consider runtime)

Well, I see your point. This is certainly the upgrade price. Whether there would be a further rebate of the purchase of 4.5 is unclear to me.

      Sorry for the fog.

My understanding is that if you upgraded from a prevous version to 4.5 then the cost of that upgrade will be fully offset against the $299. However, if you are upgrading from a version prior to 4.5 then the cost will be $299

I'm sure Glen is right. The price you paid for 4.5 will be deducted from the upgrade price. That was the promise made by Alpha and so far I have no reason to believe anything else. If you didn't upgrade to 4.5 then you have to pay the full upgrade price.

            RE: Pricing made simple

My understanding is that it was just the cost of the upgrade from 4 to 4.5 that would be set against the $299 and also the same applied to the runtime. As there was only one runtime, that credit is not going to go very far against the new runtime block nodes.

              Keith

Not quite as I purchased unlimited runtime v4.5 full package at $650 (from memory) at the same time as I upgraded and I was advised that cost would by fully offset against a v5 runtime purchase.

                HUH!

I'm still not sure what I will have to pay. I did pay to upgrade to 4.5 and I understood that would be applied to the purchase of V5 when available. I assumed that all that would be applied would be the cost of the upgrade and I'm not even sure what that was.

$299 less the cost of your v4.5 upgrade

                      Too simple!!!

That could also apply to v5 as some of the facilities available seem almost too simple to be true!!

                        RE: Pricing made simple

If I recall correctly, the big selling point to get everyone to upgrade to version 4.5 was that you paid for the upgrade, and then to get to version 5 it was going to be another 75.00 or something.

                        Was I dreaming?
