Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

            Lev,

Show us what you tried. Copy and paste your exact code into your message. Then it will be possible to suggest changes.

            For example:
            Sys_send_keys("full path to your program")

              OnPush
              I have a simple line
              sys_send_keys(^S)

Basikly if I would use a keyboad
I would press ctrl +S and this will activate app

                Lev,

Make a copy of the database and using the copy, delete all tables that are not used for this procedure. You will have 1, perhaps 2 tables that the form is attached to from which you want to use the Ctrl-S keystrokes.

Delete all other tables. Then, use WinZip or another similar program and zip the database and attach it to your next post by following the instructions at the bottom of the screeen where you are typing your next message.

What country do you live in?

                  Thanks
Every one but unfortunately I have run a head of my self.
I just finish reading short manual for this little App. And I have realize that I can not use mouse to activate program.
Mouse pointer must be with in the text and if I will use mouse I will loose focus and it will not work, so I will have to use key strokes instead , but it might sound stupid, but I do not use increment , however I need it now and I need to start from lets say default number A00000010
but no meter what I do it start form 1 no letter ore leading 0 are displayed
                  any Ideas
(field is character and set to increment)

                    Lev,

I do not fully understand your last post but if you can tell us the series of keystrokes you use to successfully run this program from within A5 it should be simple to send this string of keystrokes using sys_send_keys.

The button sends the keystrokes so it should not matter whether you press the button using the mouse.

You are not using the correct syntax.

                      sys_send_keys("{^S}")

                        THanx Bill
In my last post i was talking about the app( spell chcker) is running on the background in windows.
If you press ctrl+S it will activate the app.
But I found out that mouse pointer must be with in the area
of the text to be able to check spelling.
So my Idea of pressing button is not going to work
The second issue I had with Auto increment
I have never use this fiture and now I need to have Invoice Number and I need it look like this: A000001 on fist entry,
but the only thing I get is 1 or 2 or3 I cannot get Leter or leading zzzeros to print on the screen
any idea? what I am not doing wrong..

In any way thanks it is nice to know that som one ready to help..

                        Sincerely

RE: Using button to push key combo

                          Lev,

Not to add confusion to the issue, but when you issue a command such as sys_send_keys() and that is attatched to a button, you can also use the button code to give focus to the desired object before sending the key codes. You would probably do something such as:

                          memo1.Activate()
                          sys_send_keys("{^S}")

I do not know the particular requirements of your third-party spell checking program, but I'm quite sure that if it is hooked into ^S, this thing can be made to work.

                            Lev,

This is a new question so it really should be in a new thread. Also, it has been answered before so you would get your information faster by searching this board on "auto increment".

Suppose you have an empty table.
-Delete the auto increment field rule if it exists.
-Create one record and fill the field with data as you want it to be (e.g. A00001).
-In field rules create the autoincrement rule.

Values in the field will then increment as you wish.
