Tab Goes Too Far

Hi All,

The following code is on the OnKey event of the form and works very well. In fact, too well. It not only tabs to the next field but fills it in with the previous value.

I removed the {TAB} and inserted datefield.activate() after the end if line but that leaves the first field blank and tabs to the date field and fills in the previous value.

if a_user.key.value = "{F12}"
a_user.key.handled = .T.
sys_send_keys("{CTRL-SHIFT-F}{TAB}")
end if

What do I need to change to make it simply tab to the date field after pressing the F-12 key?

Hi Ken,

If the date field is the next field in the tab order, then try this:
sys_send_keys("{enter}"). Enter can be replaced with tab.

Ken, if you haven't solved this yet, the problem with leaving the previous field blank might be solved if you Refresh the field.

Ken,

If the previous value is being filled in as you say, usually this would be due to the field rules being set to enter a default value equal to the last value entered. I'd assume this to be the case if a manual tab advance also causes this problem.
If you want to maintain the field rules or work around the problem, just add a bit more code. The default value should disappear if you over write it, so entry of one or more spaces and a backspace should leave the field clear of any entry. There are also other ways to blank the field and you can probably code any of the manual steps needed.

If you still get weird behavior after trying this solution, try removing the problem field from the form, run a compact of the database, then reinsert the field and see if its problem behavior improves.
