"Select more than one" from list

I need to present a field from a table and have the user be able to select more than one value for selecting groups in a report to print.

I now use an array, but it requires the user to repeat four times or more. I think I heard V5 will permit the user to select more than one from an array, but for now can someone suggest a work-around?

Query By Form permits you to specify more than one value for a given field.

It also lets you specify alternate conditions. i.e. All the customers in New York or all the customers who have current balances.

Check out the discussion in the User's Guide, especially the discussion of the Query 'Operators'. You may find the comma especially handy.

Create a Pick.dbf table with fields for what you need, zap it it, fill it appropriately with an append or join, and use a form to select the records you want.

Here's something I have used that might work for you:

I have a form (which I use as a dialog, although that isn't necessary) that has 8 checkboxes on it. Each checkbox is a variable (which I defined in Forms, Variables as logical).

Any or all checkboxes can be checked. Then, you could make the values in your report dependent on whether or not each variable was .T. or .F. It will take some scripting, but works quite well.

Syntax:
Result String = ui_get_check( Title, Default String, Choice1 [ , Choice2�
[ , ... [ , Choice8] ]])
Description:
Creates and displays a dialog box containing between 1 and 8 check box choices.
Your response is returned as a Result String which contains either a �+� or a �-�
for each checked or unchecked choice. The character positions of each �+�
(Check) or �-� (No Check) in the Result String directly correspond to the order of
the check box choices. If the Cancel button is selected, an empty string (��) will
be returned.
You specify the title of the dialog box through the Title parameter.
The Default String determines which choices are checked when the dialog box
first appears. This string is a sequence of numbers indicating which choice (from
1 to 8) is to be checked. For example, the Default String �124� indicates that the
first, second and fourth choices are checked when the dialog box appears.
You specify the quantity and description of choices through the Choice1 through
Choice8 parameters. You must supply a descriptive text for the Choice1
parameter; parameters Choice2 through Choice8 are optional.
