Update Fields on Form

Goodday all. Need a second pair of eyes. I have a header with 2 fields charge_total N 10.2, Rep_charge N 10.2. On my form (based on a set) I have 2 calc fields, one to calc total charges the other to calc rep portion. Both work as supposed to. Also on form I have the first 2 fields mentioned abobe, which I want to be updated from the calc fields. When the rec is finished I have a save btn, on the push event, i have 3 inline xb, the first one is topparent.commit(), the second and thirds btns are identical in respect of what their supposed to do.
first inline -
dim hrd as p
sys_send_keys("[F9]")
hdr=table.current()
hdr.change_begin()
hdr.charge_total=cust_total.value
hdr.change_end()
charge_total.refresh()

end

second xb -
dim hrd as p
sys_send_keys("[F9]")
hdr=table.current()
hdr.change_begin()
hdr.rep_charge=rep_paid.value
hdr.change_end()
rep_charge.refresh()
end

The first one works like it supposed to, the second on does nothing. I.ve tried combining all three into one, still get the same result. The rep charge doesn't fill in.

You can't place a table in change mode if it's already in change or enter mode. suggest you arrange for your script to check the mode. If it's in VIEW mode then, something like this ought to help:

dim hrd as p
sys_send_keys("[F9]")
hdr=table.current()
hdr.change_begin()
hdr.charge_total=cust_total.value
hdr.rep_charge = rep_paid.value
hdr.change_end()
charge_total.refresh()
rep_charge.refresh()

end

Thanks for the reply Tom, had exactly as you have, kept getting an error msg. script:onpushline:27
hdr.rep_charge=rep_paid.value
hdr.rep_charge subproperty cannot be assigned to.

That's why I split it into 2 op. Deleted the second xb and combined, as before, still get the same msg. Looked in obj exp, to see if there was a subproperty, no go, don't really know what it means. I'm sure in your vast knowledge you can set me in the right direction. tks tom. jb

Verify that your fieldname in the current table is "rep_charge".

May be down to a typo

seems to be an inconsistency between hrd and hdr

Thank you Tom/Colin. Found the problem, when I originally started the deve of this app. I had the Rep_charge as a calc field. REP_CHARGE*TOSECONDS(TOTAL_TIME)/3600. Got to thinking last evening, had to be either the wrong reference or a calc field, voila. Thank for the imput jb
