I have a housing system database application which is meant to keep a track of inspection/renovation/maintenance related to each individual house. I have all the tables and forms for the tables along with the switchboads made however, i am encountering problems when i enter data in some of my forms.
1.) How do i make a field object of one of my forms (child) default to that of the entry in one of my fields from the parent table. I.E. Child table is "records" Parent table is "property". Field object in "records" called "carpet installation date" needs to be defaulted to that of the "built date" field object which is present in the parent table="property".
2. The "auto advance" feature in the field rules section of tables does not work for my field objects which are on the child forms. I.E. in the child form created from the set which links "property to records" is displaying only field objects from the "records" table. The "records" table also has a "house number" field which is common in both tables. In the records form however, the user does not enter the house number itself, instead via a table lookup feature i enabled he will select the house he wants. At this point, after selection, I would like the auto advance feature to be on, such that once selected the inserting cursor is on the next field object ready to insert data.
3. In a similar scenario as the one related to in problem # 2 above, I have made some fields in my parent table as required such as "house number" etc. etc. Now, when i am entering data into the "records" form it says that these fields (house number etc. etc.) are required and I mmust enter data in them. I dont understand why, as I have already entered the data in those fields when i was entering data into the parent form. Those fields are of no relevance to the "records" table that i am working on, except for the "house number" which i dont have to enter data in, I am simply selecting/choosing it from the table lookup i have set up.
Please someone help me out on this. Thanks.
