Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Toolbar and jpeg Images

I have a table that has an image field for jpeg pictures. I've made a form and the image field covers the entire screen. There are no buttons. I do not want a menu bar, just a tool bar.

In the attached jpeg file, I right clicked on the mouse button and brought up the image menu.

What I would like to do is take the code for 'Import Image' Export Image' and 'Delete Image' and attach it to seperate buttons on the toolbar. I've been poking around and the only code I can find is {==a5_image_edit_menu("form")}.

This may be all I need, however; I have not been able to make it do anything. Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    RE: Toolbar and jpeg Images

I've made a little headway, but not much.

I made a script and placed the following code inside.

    ui_popup_menu(a5_image_edit_menu())

Running the script has the desired effect of bringing up the menu box, but clicking on the task I want yields nothing.

    Looks good though.

      Ron,

is one way of getting what you are looking for I think.

I havn't had time to play with it much, but it works and I was thinking of maybe using part of it. So I made some mods to it so it should work from the interactive window and display a dialog box for picking what you want to do. It will also display a dialog box of the results It assumes you have a sub-dir named images under the main apps folder. You will need to adapt it to what your doing but that shouldn't be to hard.

I'll take a look at your script.

In the mean time, I put a choice on the tool bar for Import/Export. When selected, it brings up a message box instructing the user to right click the mouse. At that point, the user then is using the built in Alpha 5 tools which work very nicely for what I want to do.

I just wanted to push the button and go right to the Alpha 5 menu.

        Thanks,

          Ron,

I think you should be able to easily modify the script for your use and run it from a button on the toolbar. It does pretty much the same thing as the right click menu does.

            Ron,

            Try this on a button:

            pic.activate() 'Activate image object
            parent.rightclick(parentform:pic.this,"") 'oprn rightclick menu

The code above assumes your image field is named "PIC", change this for yours.

I spent about 3 hours today trying to make this thing work. But I could never quite get things right.

I ended up going to the WEB Help and typed in JPEG.

I ended up with two scripts.
              The frist I called PictureNew

:Pictures.New_Record() 'start new record in form picture
              a5_get_jpeg(image.this) 'jpeg field named image

              The second I called PictureChange

              a5_get_jpeg(image.this)

I put 2 bitmaps on the toolbar and I was done.
