Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    toolbar problem (after new update)

    Hi,

I created a default toolbar, a form view toolbar.
If I open the form, everything works OK, but as soon as I navigate, or use one of the buttons on the toolbar, it execute that command, but then dissapear from the form.
If I close and open the form again, the toolbar is back until I click on one of the buttons again.

The previous toolbars I created before the latest update, are working fine. But these new ones are a problem.

Are any one experiencing the same problem, or am I doing something stupid now.

I created a new toolbar and see the same problem, but only on some commands. For example, the query commands do not cause a problem, but the sort commands and fetch command close the toolbar. I suspect some error in the event code generated by toolbar genie. It appears from the xbasic that any action that uses "command:" causes the toolbar to close.

      Hello Jerry,

The same here, some are working and others not.

Someone said the Alpha-guys is busy fixing the errors concerning the sets. I don't know about this toolbar error then. Do we have to let them know or what?

      Well, have a nice day

Toolbars made with build 1498_1051 do work ok. Toolbars made with build 1501_1052 and newer do not work. If you take a toolbar made made in an earlier version and edit it in the new build and save it, it still seems to work.

What build did this problem begin in? Does it work with 1052 or 1053?

Thanks, Jerry. I should've scrolled before I responded.

The toolbar editor itself hasn't been changed since April, so I'll have to keep digging.

I think I fixed the problem.

Exit A5, download System_AEX.Zip and extract it to your A5 program folder, overwriting the existing system.aex file.

Please let me know if this is still an issue. I will release a patch with this fix in the next few days, but for now, this should solve the problem

That seems to have fixed the problem. I can create new toolbars and they work correctly. I didn't try every command, but the generic form view toolbar works.

                      Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the patch, I replaced it in my folder and did a few test on the toolbar commands.
It seems to be working fine.

                      Thanks
