Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Avery Labels Can you add additional sizes of la

Alpha's selection of labels is somewhat limited. How can I add more default sizes to my label directory without setting them up manually?

I am having problems setting up Avery L7163 within Alpha. I can print this label perfectly in Word XP but not in Alpha.
I have set the label up with the same dimensions as in Word But cannot get the blimming thing to line up or correct number of labels to print.

    The label size is 3.81cm x 9.9cm 2 colours 7 rows

Try starting out with Alpha's Avery L7163, then save it as a different name, tweak it to suit.
    There can be only one.

It may not be listed, but you can create any type of label you want. Pick a label that is "closest" (dosen't really matter anyway) and change the label properties to what you want, give it a name and save it.

Hi Peter, Thanks for your help. I have tried this but unfortunately, i can not get it right. I select a label with 7 rows and it prints only 6.

RE: Avery Labels Can you add additional sizes of

You have somewhat more flexibility with the label design if, once the overall sizes are satisfactory, you edit the label, remove the rtf object, and place the desired fields directly on the label background.

I just experimented with a custom sized 1.5 inch by 3.898 inch label (about the same as yours) and was able to get eight rows of legible data at an 8 pt font size.

              Hi David,

I created a new label set last week which was not too difficult to do. I am currently using a label set of 2 columns and 7 rows which sounds like it may work for you. I will give you my settings here for you to try and see if it does the trick for you.

              Under Label Size:

              1 1/2" x 4, 2 across
              Single Sheet
              Label Size
              Width: 4.000
              Height: 1.500
              Sheet Size
              Columns 2
              Rows 7
              Label Gutters
              Width: 0.100
              Height: 0.000
              Page Margins
              Side: 0.156
              Top & Bottom: 0.275

              Under Label Properties:
              On the Page Tab:
              Margins
              Left 0.12
              Top 0.25
              Right 0.15
              Bottom 0.25

I hope these settings work for you.

I only have one field which is a Rich Text Object. Do you think this could be the problem.

I enter the data that I want on my label on a form, different sizes of text, etc . I then want the label to print as the data in the form.

                Thanks Again

Like Stan said, you might try removing the RTF.
Then set the label properties, size, etc.
Then add your field w. or w/o RTF.

The attachment contains two screen shots.

Lbl_rtf is a label in design mode showing several fields inside an rtf object.

Lbl_freeform is the same label with the rtf object removed and the fields arranged in a "freeform" manner.

If the last suggestion does not work check the margins as sometimes it is the margin of the printer that is causing the problem.
I have a label application that is used by many different dental offices and every once in a while I get one printer that won't print correctly.
