Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Color Bleed-Thru

Does anyone else have this problem?

I created a logical field with a radio control. Around this field I placed a border. I then set the color equation to show white on red if false and black on green if true.

The problem is that when I change the value in the box one of the colors, bleeds through, so you see a combination of red and green.

My question is if anyone else has seen this problem? Is this a bug or is there a workaround?

    Thanks,

    Charlie

    Charlie,

I doubt it's a bug. How's your video or screen settings? Whats the accelerator rate? If it's near full speed, try slowing it down a bit.

Sorry - way beyond all that. Did you try it or is this just a WAG?

        Charles,

In other contexts bleed thru occurs when objects are too near borders of other objects. Search the forum. I recall this seems to be discussed mainly with tabbed objects. Don't know if it's going to help, so you can call it a WAG if you like, provided you don't mind offending me.

          Charles,

I see the same 'banded' bleed thru I think you're referring to. Do not see a work around for it.

            Thanks Tom...as always.

Before I posted this, I did look around the forum, but did not see anything related to radio buttons inside a frame like this, so I wanted to get it posted for the guys at Alpha. I tried it on several machines with differing OS's.

I'll work around it with some other idea.

            Thanks,

            Charlie

              Charles,

In a spare minute I thought I'd put together a working example for Selwyn, showing the problem.

Guess what? I can't replicate it here on my home PC.

Here's the sample I've worked up. Does it work correclty for you?

Unzip the attachment to an empty folder.

                Tom,

Once again, you're the best. Finally managed to break your form.

Your form worked perfectly on my system, so it took me a little back and forth to see what was going on here.

Finally what "broke" it was setting the "Field Properties" Radio style to "Default". Try that and I think you'll see what I mean. When I set it back to "Indented" style, it worked with no bleed through.

Kind of an odd one, but there you have it. Believe me, I tried everything else that I could think of that seemed to make sense, but never adjusted this setting. Just goes to show you!

                Thanks again Tom!!!

                  Charles,

Please give me step by step on how to set the style property to 'default'. I can't find it in the properties of the radio button.

                  thanks.

Sorry Tom, for not being clear.

Go to Properties, Choices, Radio Style (pull-down)
