Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    RE: Eye chart

Easier than building your own various sized bitmap fonts...

Attached is a nice little san serif mirror image font.
It is a TT font and fully sizeable.
    Might be of some help.
I do not know if it is copyrighted or not, but here it is.

Just install it to your windows\fonts directory and it can be used like any other font.

      RE: Eye chart

Silly me - my brain was working overtime and had air bubbles. Also, our internet has been down, so i haven't been able to look at this thread again until right now.

How about using Word Art and putting them into Alpha as pictures?

Suppose I should read the rest of the thread...

        RE: Eye chart

I have removed this file from our server because of the unknown copyright status. If you use Google to search for "prmirror" you will find several results. There appear to be different fonts by this name and most contain a copyright statement. If you need this font, please download it from one of the sources which are returned in the search results.

          I understand Lenny...
          Sorry about posting it here.
That's why I put the disclaimer on it.

Must be a bug in that font anyway.
It seemed to make little difference on the following letters. :-)

No problem Kevin, you were trying to help out. And I appreciate your disclaimer. I know you're a good guy and not trying to violate copyright. It still ends up being a big help because now James (and others) at least know a specific font name to look for.

Yep Lenny, I would not want to get this board in trouble over a simple font.

I did just run across this site that has OsoSoft's PRmirror font available for download and it states there that it is available as a "Freeware" font. I cannot personally confirm the validity of their claim.

                  RE: Eye chart

I too am an optometrist and think this would work even though time consuming at first:

Create your own font with DataBecker Handwriting software. Instead of handwriting the letters, select reversed Snellen letters scanned from a chart and paste them into DataBecker's input form.

I believe this would not cause any copyright problems as Snellen letters are designed for constant angle subtended to the eye, rather than a "font".

Then you can then use and resize the font you have created as you wish.

                    Thanks Robin,

I never thought that Senllen letters would be copyrighted. I suppose they might be? One commercial app called Acuity Pro uses standard chart letters (tzvecl etc.)Is that what you mean? Thanks everyone

                        RE: Eye chart

James. I was thinking of using the DataBecker software SOLELY as a true type font generator.

Once you have got the reversed snellen letters you want scanned in, you can use the new true type font you have created, in any application.

Must say I've been tempted with TestChart 2000, but so far am still using a projection chart!
