I'm trying to find a way to fine tune my sequence of operations so as to make the process automated as much as possible. i'd really appreciate any advise/assistance. Here's what I've been doing or have done so far:
1. my source documents are in ascii format;
2. my end outputs are exported back to ms excel format;
3. my sequence of operations is as follows:
- imported 2 ascii/ms excel files, thus making a file1 and a file2
- performed a matching process by "intersecting" both files
- performed a nonmatching process by "subtracting"
- performed a combined process by "joining" both files
- performed an "update" operation to update some fields
- exported file1 and file2 back to ms excel format;
- then export the operation outputs to ms excel formats as well i.e. the matching, nonmatching, and combined tables produced in the series of operations
now, here's my problem -- when i try to automate everything using the code editor to create the script, everything's fine up until i'm about to export the produced tables from the operations because the "saved operations" to perform the exporting tasks are automatically deleted since the end outputs are altered by the preceding operations.
i know there's got to be a way for me to automate the process without having to redo the latter operations -- but i guess i'm too new to all of these. i'd really appreciate any advise or assistance. thank you.
