I just tried turning on the "Halt Script" option and it created all kinds of problems.
The first time I restarted A5 after turning on the setting, A5 started correctly. The next time, the Halt Script box came up and it wouldn't go beyond that. Even if I clicked the Halt button, A5 wouldn't go beyond the gray screen. Subsequent restarts of A5 resulted in the same problem - no way to get past the gray screen. (I don't recall seeing the startup logo either and it is turned on.)
Rebooting the computer gave me one more good startup - sort of. It would start OK if I simply started A5. Trying to start an application from an icon (target = D:\A5v7\alpha5.exe -nosplash -title="AIMS Business" "E:\A5V5\AIMS\Busin5\aims.adb") would fail even on the first attempt.
On one "start A5 then start the app" attempt, I continued to try running the app and the initial menu form came up but it wouldn't run. However, I could use the View Settings menu.
I also had similar problems starting the runtime.
The only solution - without resetting the "Halt Script" option - was to reboot the computer in order to get A5 to start at all. It has now been rebooted 6 times and I'm tired of testing.
Now that I've turned off the Halt Script option (View Settings / Preferences / Running Scripts), everything is back to normal.
