Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Multi-State Button Push()

    How would I set a Multi-state Button value OnInit, not just set the value but actually have it show indented("pushed")?

    Thank you

    A multi-state button doesn't have an onpush event so it can't have a pushed appearance, per se. When you make a selection from the available choices for a multi-state button, you are triggering the onchange event. You might try setting the value of the variable controlled by the multi-state button to see if that changes its appearance.

    After testing it is apparent, as it should have been to me earlier, that you need to change the value of the multi-state button object using the objectname, not the variable. Like

    MULSTBTN1.value = "D"

    Not sure how you will decide which of the choices to set in the oninit event but this is the way to do it.

      assume the MS button name is MS1
      OnInit event:

      topparent:MS1.value="choice1"
      topparent.resynch()

      Choice one will be depressed as if you pushed it.

        So Simple yet so not working.

        topparent:PartStatus.value="Search"
        topparent.resynch()

        Couldn't be more straight forward than that. It doesn't "depress" the MSB. However it leads me to another question I have. Let's say I'm in the Code Editor and begin typing Topparent. Alpha fills in available commands right? Why doesn't it show topparent.resynch() as being available, when you all out there must be using it this way. Are all functions available to all "Objects"? Even if it doesn't "auto-fill" for certain functions? Pretty simple stuff.

        Thank you for your input, sorry for the delayed response. Shared Dialup. Uugghh.

          MULSTBTN1.value = "D"

          works for me in the oninit event for the customer information form in AlphaSports. Indicates the letter "D" is selected.

          Is PartStatus the objectname of the multi-state button on your form?

          I think .refresh() would be more appropriate than .resynch() but neither seems necessary.

            In the MS properties, choose raised border.

              Re: Multi-State Button Push()

              As a follow up, maybe Im missing something on this MSB issue. Im using MSB in order to change the "Face" of my form. The button IS the session variable State. OnInit set var->State.value="1". So the variable sets to "1", refresh the form and the conditional object shows the correct "Face". My problem lies in the button being "depressed" since it is a raised border of 2. I've tried to set the variable on Init, declare the variable to a value, set the object to the choice, and even tried to set the numerical choice number "/"1"/". Still doesn't work. It's a mystery. Does anything seem not correct?

              I wrote that, and then tried to set the "State" variable as numeric, and the values of the MSB to numeric instead of "abc". And that solved my problem, I can now Init the buttons correctly...Thank you for your thoughts.

              Many Thanks.
