fedex_delivery_status ???

Could someone please explain to me how this works. Lets say I have a database named reporting and I have a field named ship_via and awb_no(for the tracking number) How do I get this to work?

Are you asking how does the function work - or - are you asking how do you show this is a table.

First, are you going to collect and store all the tracking information or just the current tracking information?

How do you want to obtain the status and when do you want the status?

Just for starters I have attached a small rudimentary app - download this and then extract to a folder.

There is a blank table with just ship by, track_no, status (memo) and delivered a logical field. There is one form that if you put in the ship by and then the tracking number - push the button and it will retrieve the information from the carrier ( in this case USPS - UPS or Fedex - they are three functions available in Alpha).

Maybe this will get you started in the right direction.

The best way to see how a function works is to play with it in the interactive window.
For example:
awb_no = "123456"
?fedex_delivery_status(awb_no)
= ""
In this case it returned a blank because it was an invalid tracking number

Into the example of Tom's, it might be good to have the following before the last line of code to alert the user of an invalid number.

if status_rtn = ""
ui_msg_box("Notice","The return indicates this number is not valid",64)
end
end if
