I need some help figuring out how to avoid duplication of event guests for multiple locations in one table.
I have an event table that I use for organizing banquet guests (banquetb). To avoid entering the same person for an event more than once I have set up in the field rules in the validation tab the uniqueness test "Value of field must be unique" for the ID_Number of the person. It has worked great for many, many years to help me avoid guest duplication.
My problem is that I am now moving three banquet events at three separate locations into one month using the one table (banquetb).
I have an ID_Number and a Location field to separate the person for the specific location. I now have a situation where the same guest may go to all three events, but I have not been able to set up a uniqueness test that will allow the ID_number to be repeated, but not in the same location more than once. I have tried several options, but have not gotten it to work.
In other words I want to block the same person from being entered twice for one location, but allow the person to be allowed more than once with potentially three locations in the same table. I am hoping this makes sense and that a seasoned A5 user will have a suggestion to make this happen.
I have attached a view of a form I use in the Banquet.set to enter the guests for the events. Given the view I would like to avoid having ID_Number -04910 duplicated in the Brunswick location, but the ability to duplicate ID_Number -04910 in another location for example Camden.
I have tried some expressions in the field rules like mentioned above, but it has not blocked the duplication.
Any suggestions to remedy my ability to prevent guest duplication at one event while allowing duplication to more than one event would be greatly appreciated.
