Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Thanks Mike.

We are very fortunate to have a team very talented developers who feel they are on a mission. Positive feedback can only fuel the fire and spur them on.

        Hi Richard,

Always good to hear the good news. Congratulations to the whole team!
Let other people prove and publish that Alphafive is a good tool for everybody!

        But Richard,
Don't you think that we challenge your team by adding and updating the Wishlist almost every day?

Do you know a company who get offered that many suggestions, improvements, tips, positive critics for free?

Of course some people are disapointed. They will the most impossible things. That's live. But knowing Alpha's strategy is encouraging to the user.

I also had some brilliant ideas added to the wishlist just like a lot of others. But as Alpha does not rate contributions nor gives a reaction I know I did it not clearly or maybe the ideas were not so brilliant. Well, that's live too.

        Have my greetings

          Hi Richard,

I'm sure the general Alpha Five developer is not familiar with Dr. Dobbs, but this is a Magazine going back to the earliest roots of PC's, starting in 1974 or 1975 I believe. It is for the very "techie" software people, those who code and love nuances of coding. These are the same people who speak regex expressions and pointers and code objects as a 2nd language.

For Dr. Dobbs to honor Alpha Five is no small achievement by Alpha Software! Real kudo's for the whole team at Alpha! I know I'm impressed!
          Regards,

Not a surprise. I've known this fact for many years now. Alpha5 Is our companies secret weapon for fast web development and desktop Apps. Keep up the amazing good work! We have increased our business this year by 35% due to the web apps and other processes that I was able to develop and automate.

Greg that is great to hear.

It is interesting and amusing to see you refer to Alpha Five as being "a secret weapon!"

This corresponds to some people who we have spoken to about writing up their Alpha Five experience as a case study. They have told us about being a bit reticent to go public about their use of Alpha Five because they don't want their competitors to realize they their secret weapon is also Alpha Five.

                Richard,

It's very impressive to see Alpha Five nominated for a DDJ Jolt Award.
DDJ is like the Harvard Business Review or Scientific American of programmers magazines.
                It always has been.

It's awesome to see Alpha Five recognized as a finalist.

What a nice present for the Alpha team this holiday season.

                Congratulations to all.
