Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Alpha 5 Version 12 Roadmap

In the past, Alpha has released their plans and then taken a lot of heat when the plans changed or they couldn't meet their projections. So, we are unlikely to get any information we can hang our hats on. They are being vague on purpose, and even then they come under fire from us users...look at some of the current posts.

You might be better off to do what I do, and make the best of what is already released, taking anything new as a bonus.

What you can count on, is that when something new is released, it will be better than you expected, but you will still want more.

Pat, I'm curious if this is speculative or if you've had specific conversations with Alpha that made you think this.

I'm sure they've taken heat all along, but it actually came to me today while writing on another thread that the difference this time around is the subscription where the products were paid for before they were even supposed to be delivered, whereas in the past things were released late but no one felt like they hadn't yet gotten what they paid for. It's the same release delay as always except this time I feel shorted because I paid for it 18 months ago.

For what it's worth to the original poster, a salesperson told me last week that v12 would ship with IIS and would be released later this year, but I have every reason to believe that the release date, if not the inclusion of IIS, is a 100% work of salesperson fiction.

I find it very hard to believe the sales staff know much about V12 LET ALONE release date let alone a vague release date. Sales would be the last folks I'd tell. Speculation: V12, if there is one, will not be released until 'sometime' during the 2nd half of 2013. Development is changing so fast they can't keep up with it. That's a big reason for the subscription program. Develop and release. On the other hand, I can see a V12 but will it include the v11 feature packs? If so, then they will have to market it w/o feature packs until v12 feature packs are released.

Those who purchased the first subscription are still waiting for all of v11 to be released. Until that occurs, I see no reason to invest another $1,000 plus to get what I've already paid for. Because of Alpha's lack of communication, the door is open for ill feelings to develop. It would be very helpful if Alpha would address this issue. Their silence on this subject is deafening.

Kenn, I couldn't agree more. I was one of the first to purchase the subscription plan a year and a half ago. My subscription just expired. I can't justify asking management for more money to spend on a product that I haven't received ALL of. Lots of promises, but absolutely NO information from the top guys at Alpha, just lots of Sales calls asking for more money.

My main question to Alpha is, do we still get what we paid for in the beginning?

You may havfe received this email:

A "Subscriber Only" webinar on Wednesday, October 24th at 11:00 AM EST

I suspect we might be left hanging as it appears Alpha thinks by making this a 'subscriber only' viewing, we'll renew the subscription. I think not. If this were my product, I'd want the whole world to know. But then, I'm not privy to their reasoning so they may have a good one. Let's hope so.
