Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Seeking comments, updated Alpha-based website

I just finished updating http://www.iadn.com to latest Alpha* + SQL from what was a combination of Alpha V8 thru V11 and DBF-based (it was that old).

Any comments or suggestions appreciated (or questions).

Login or register/login if you want to see the "Dashboard" mode. Not available as a mobile site yet, that is the next task.

*OK, second to latest Alpha; they just released a brand new V4.4 this morning!

And, then there's a pre-release the very next day - these guys are some over-achievers for sure! The new version adds exceptional value to an already great product.
Steve, love the new look but of course I have some suggestions. I think the "Service request" shoudl be Orange like the word Alpha in your logo. I also think that the squares showing "senior developers" "Members" "Portfolio Apps" Utilities for Sale" should all have white backgrounds, the blueish-grey color is perfect, perhaps they coudl be links as well in the future - members for instance could go to the login screen.
Same goes for the Services squares "mentoring" etc...they shoudl be links to those areas - in fact I immediately clicked one even though it didn't appear as a link just to see if it was in fact a link - so that would require 9 additional pages listing those items if they do ot already exist.

All said, just being critical. The new look is great, nice job as it certainly has that modern feel to it now

You could say it looks now same like every other web page today...

      Anyway it looks good.

      Here are my notes:

First page load is slow. Something like 5-8 seconds. Typically also other pages are slow to load.
      Google analytics fails to load.
From 995px -768px the box sizes (middle) are not equal in first page.
It is not HTTPS, not even login page. (Obviously you need to have dual host reverse proxy)

But as I said site looks good.

The boxes look like buttons. Tried to click them but of course you can't...

Thanks for the notes. I will do a round of performance updates this coming weekend. I have been busy on the SEO side and fixing the fact that the only articles in the "Blog" link are from 2009 and 2012.

SEO is partially dependent on speed of pages Steve.
It seemed fast enough to me though

                Thanks Lance, fixed.

BTW, although most of the videos are still useful, they are all pretty old (Alpha V10-V11 era). I will be categorizing the videos, and then adding a ton of new content. Right now I am just making sure that the new rendition of IADN.COM is working properly.
