Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Like Mauricio, this may the wrong time but I would hope for a long wanted feature, I guess for both desktop and web; Could we have a choice to add multiple fields in a grid column? Fluid forms seems good but It is not the same.

this might be totally out of time but ill give it a shot

Recently I was testing a Project Management software called Attask (@task), it used Ajax extensively and it has a super cool feature in grids, GROUPING.
YES GROUPING, you choose a field and the application will group rows together by adding an extra row before and after each group (like in reports)
the 1st extra row (at the beginning of each group) has the title of the group
and the 2nd extra row (at the end of each group) has the sumarization of numeric fields.

Come on Rabins I know you can do it too ;)
            regards
Sorry didnt want this to get lost on the 2nd page
            Cheers

This will sure be a great product.

I like to see a choice to run different types of operations on a page without coding (Import, Append...etc), like on a desktop.

"Amazon -Like" searching in v10 beta with Codeless AJAX

This has been added as a built in feature - it has the catch name of 'constrained keyword search'

The Grid component has always allowed you to create Keyword searches - a search that searches in multiple fields. But now, you can create 'constrained' keyword searches. This allows you to perform a keyword search subject to some other constraint e.g. (Department = "Books").

Codeless AJAX - Powerful Tabbed Linked Grids

Tabbed Linked Grids You can create very powerful 'master-detail' Grids by placing 'Linked Content Sections' on the Grid. If a 'Linked Content Section' contains more than one Grid, the content is displayed in a Tab or Accordion object. For example, you might have a Customer Grid that display the Orders for the customer record that has focus. The Orders grid, in turn, might display the Order Details for the order that has focus. There is no limit to the level of nesting of linked content.

This show how easy it is to create a Linked Content Section.

                      Amazon search? Not quite

I just don't get the so called "Amazon like search", it just searches in more than 1 field which was available since v9 on the quick search,

What the Amazon search really lets you do is select the field in which you want to search for a keyword.
I don't see this functionality in the v10 feature, you are constrained to the initial selection of fields you made inside Alpha Five.

It is worded a bit strangely, and as always you need to make sure you have the latest files if you are beta testing.

What it effectively means is that you can turn any field in your search area into a keyword search field which searches several fields in your database. And unlike previous keyword fields, you can still have a traditional search area with dropdowns etc rather than an either or situation where it's either fancier search controls or a single keyword field.

With a bit of code it is possible since version 9. You can give your navigation buttons an id since version 9 and also you can have on click javascript in menus since that version so you can use that or xbasic to grab the menu location and parent menu name etc.

For web grids you can always store the selected categories and subcategories in session variables and since you can use those and xbasic in freeform areas in v10 this should be fairly straightforward.

For those working with V10, what (if any) web design tools have you found that will work well, for integrating general web page creation with V10 functionality?

So, any recommendations for a web design product?

                              Thank you.
