Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

This is like pulling teeth with a tweezers.
I need more information about your list of orders (how you're getting it, what is included in the list).
I do the type of loops you're wanting to do on a daily basis, but I'm not hiding information from me.

      Like

      Order #
      ..Item 1
      ..Item 2

      Or

      Order#, item1,item2

First one needs the Order # and the items in a SET . 2 tables, Orders, Items

Second one has all data in each record. Just Order +content.

      Give us a clue please?

So this loop code below works great but a tweak is needed and I was hoping for some help. I am using "WHILE i <= 35" because I am assuming we will not have a job with over 35 segments. Let's say I have a job with only 1 segment. How can i stop the code from looping 35 times when it should just stop at 1. What if I had a job with only 5 segments? Etc....
Remember, you are intimately familiar with the task you are doing.
I can only respond to what you tell me. Otherwise, I’m just guessing at what you are doing.
Do Not assume I know what you are trying to do.

        DIM numberofsegments as N

        change WHILE i <= 35 to WHILE i <= numberofsegments

Write xbasic code to determine the number of segments in this file??? List???

Assign that value to the variable numberofsegments

Repeat the process for each file, list, whatever.

IF this is done properly, 2 for each loops and a variable (eg: currentOrder) will do what is desired, whether there is 1 segment or 1000 segments.

            Got it.
We do mailings and variable print. When we are printing on envelopes we like to make sure all of the data is is being printed correctly. We don't want the print operators to accidently cutoff address lines because they under estimated the number of characters on a line or The City, State and Zip code don't print because it exceeded the number of lines allowed. Our final data files will always be in the same format. A dbase (.dbf) file with a header row on top and the corresponding data below it. For example:
            OEL BREAK FULL_NAME TITLE COMPANY ALTRNT2ADD ALTRNT1ADD DLVRYADDRS CITYSTZIP COUNTRY IMBBRCDDGT PRSRTSQNC SEGMENT CUSTOM1 CUSTOM2 CUSTOM3 CUSTOM4 CUSTOM5 MAX_CHAR MAX_LINES QTY INFO
            # John Q. Sample 123 Main Street Anytown, US 12345-6789 0027020171317600000107013410238 00001 1 22 4 917

What I want as my final result, is a report I can print and hand in with the job that shows the information like below:
            image.png
So I need to create a loop for each section so I don't have to create code for all sections 35 times or so.
I have 1 table (Temp) that has all the info needed. The code I have will append only the data needed to another table 'Temp1' which will be used to create the report.. So if my job was just one segment, Temp1 should only have 4 records. If I have a job with 4 segments, Temp1 should have 16 records and so on.

            Thanks again!
