Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Can I request an option to show more than 10 threads per page? Or just by default show 20 or 30 per page like it used to be.

Well I got this one so maybe it's fixed or my profile check has worked as you suggested. Pity it wasn't suggested by Alpha though.

    Ted,
As wacky as this may sound, you might want to confirm the data in your profile.
I have been receiving emails regarding replies to posts I've contributed to, including your reply from yesterday.

Still not getting notifications when someone responds to a post I have conrptributed to. This is important to me so I can pick up on the road if necessary.
In my Profile, I get a message that I haven't entered a valid Alpha License number. Why? The profile change saved eventually.
    Signature has preceding letters.

There are always consequenses for any action, so make Lenny a cup of cocoa.
I can visualise where this is going, and we will all get used to it in time.
What I did like was your comment "not as easy as they said it would be"
Now, where have I heard that before?
If they offer you a used car, run away.

I can and do appreciate upgrades that are done with attention to minimize negative effects from the upgrade. A separate test site before abandoning
the previous version so kinks can be ironed out would be even better.
It would be so nice to have the old, working forum back until the new version is ready to take over, at least with all the things that made the former
forum useful (attachments, email notification of a response to a topic, the ability to view new posts as well as to have them acknowledged as read).
My goal is for this to be constructive criticism.

One really useful feature on the "old" setup was the ability to set my preferences so that the latest post in a thread always appeared at the top of page one. ie: date order descending. Please bring this back!!

Thanks for all of your feedback. There are some great new features that come with the upgraded software but unfortunately, the upgrade has not been as easy as they claimed it would be. We're working to fix a lot of the problems that you've identified, Lenny has been staying up nights on these issues.

We do really appreciate the feedback, we want to make the forum more useful and productive for our customers so keep it coming. We may not be able to implement all of your requests now but over time we will do our best to continually improve.

I'm sure y'all are getting inundated with stuff regarding the new layout, so sorry to add to it, but in my settings, I should be getting emails on replies to my posts, yet I am not getting any email responses, and when I edit my settings, it says I did not enter an Alpha License Number, yet I cannot seem to find that field. Am I missing it?
